Q: What would you consider the best element of your role at Focused Recruitment?

I thoroughly enjoy building long term relationships with clients and candidates. I enjoy the feeling of having done a good job and having made a difficult fill that is business critical for a client and having made a dream move possible for a candidate. We build our own personal reputation in the industry and I am proud to work here and am pleased with how I am developing as a consultant. I am focused ( excuse the pun! ) on quality and building a strong body of work that I can look back on and be proud of.

Q: What would you consider the least favourite element of your role at Focused Recruitment?

I’ve always said that permanent recruitment is a game of snakes and ladders. You can be on top of the world one minute and then can have the world crashing down the next. I don’t enjoy the feeling of disappointment and rejection at times but that comes with the territory with a job in recruitment. The sign of a good consultant is not how you are doing when things are going to plan but how you react when you are faced with unexpected challenges.

Q: Do you believe you’ll be able to reach your full potential at Focused Recruitment?

I think I reached my full potential years ago. I’ve been winging it since coming into the industry to be honest!!

Q: If given the chance, would you reapply to your current role?

Definitely. As much as my last role gave me a good grounding, the ability to work with some great people and make good friends in the industry, this role has helped me realise that I had a lot of areas that needed sharpening up that now help me to do my job a lot better and more effectively. I work smarter now at Focused and I have learnt to be less of a reactive recruiter.  I have increased my skill set and become a lot more knowledgeable with regards to the different industries that I recruit into helping me to become more specialised in certain sectors, particularly electronic and healthcare manufacturing.

Q In three words describe the culture at Focused Recruitment

Driven, Precise, Smart

Q: Do you believe we live authentically by our organisational values?

Yes, I do. We are all about doing it right at the first time of asking and we try really hard on the temp and perm teams to do so. We focus on quality and gaining trust in clients which leads to repeat business. We get a lot of repeat business and it is thanks to the hard work we do in building these relationships.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

I don’t have Netflix. I did watch the Walking Dead avidly but the latest seasons have been so poor I have stopped watching it completely.

What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

I am an Artist and a keen graphic designer. That was the thing that I was always known for when I was younger. I am a skilled cartoonist and always wanted to be an architect. I love using AutoCAD and Solidworks. However, life happens when you are making other plans ( Elton John )

Can you share three things about you that you think no one here knows?

No. I am dark and dangerous out of work. I like keeping up that element of mystery.

If you could give your younger self any advice what would it be and why?

Not to spend my whole first year’s student loan on modifying an N Reg Rover Metro to get into Max Power. I’ve only just finished paying it off
